the grand rapids park project:

Project: To visit every city park in the Greater Grand Rapids Area.

  1. Donald S. Lamoreaux Park 07.06.06 - Alex: "I thought it was really boring." Savannah: "I liked it because it was more like a quiet walk than screaming kids on a playground."

This park is mostly trees and trails next to the Grand River. There was a fishing platform. We threw rocks in the water, walked on a trail, and had to use bug spray. We saw a giant rock with an obscene picture on it.

  2. Dwight Lydell Park 07.06.06 - Alex: "I thought it was better than the last one because we didn't just walk, we also got some ice cream." Savannah: "It had trails, a playground, and a nice Ice Cream location for kids."

This park is in Comstock Park next to West River Drive. The library is next to it, and across the street, walk-up soft-serve ice cream.

  3. Rogue River Park 07.08.06 - Alex: "It was the funnest because we found lots of sledding hills we could do in the winter, and a little hill for our little cousins to climb up." Savannah: "I liked it."

  4. Comstock Park 08.04.06This park has frisbee golf courses, a playset, the Grand River running next to it, ball fields, and plenty of trees. We had a long walk, featured in podcast #71 found here

  5. Rosa Parks Circle 08.05.06boring! nothing was going on. Just some water-sculptures, and ice rink. Saw some bums.

  6. Briggs Park 08.16.06 Great city pool with waterslide. Had a great time. There's a playset and tennis courts, but we just went swimming. 6.93 acres. Named after Charles Briggs, who sold eleven acres to the City of Grand Rapids in 1911.
